DICKENS DISCO 

Dance, snack, and celebrate with your kids and friends at this fun family dance & social! 

Held at Charles Dickens Main School Thursday, April 10th, 2025, 6:30-9pm 

This is a fun family event for all students and families of Dickens Main School and Annex. Parents are required to stay for the event and may also be required to bust out some OG dance Moves!

There will not be a potluck this year but there will be a candy bar, so bring some spare change - can’t wait to see you there

Drop Donations for Bake Sale, Musical Desserts, Made It and Plants Sale at the Main School Gym from 8:45am-3:30pm 

OR at the Annex Office from 8:45am-3pm. After 3pm: Please take items directly to the Main School.

 

Please Read these Very Important Notes below about this year’s SPRING FLING – Thank you!

 

OPENING CEREMONY AT 4 PM

Join us in the Live Music & Performance Area for a traditional opening blessing at 4pm with Wendy Nahanee (Ancestral name: Kwákwaýel Simia). She is a Matriarch from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) host nation and is the mother of a wonderful young man, Keona. We are grateful to have her and her son open the event for us!

 

WATER BOTTLES

Bring reusable water bottles with you on the day!  To stay hydrated, refill your bottles at one of the school’s indoor water stations. To reduce waste, and protect the environment, we will not have bottles of water for sale.

 

TICKETS AND FORMS OF PAYMENT

Please bring Cash or Credit Cards to buy Tickets for items or activities at the following stations:

• Bake Sale, Popcorn, Cotton Candy
• Sausage Stand (in the red courtyard) 
• Face Painting
• Outdoor Inflatable Games (on the field)
• Indoor Games (in the gym)
• Musical Desserts (in the gym)
• Photobooth is free! 

As we only have access to a few Square Credit Card terminals, we highly encourage bringing Cash to reduce wait times and line-ups at the Ticket Sales.

 

• Made It (Crafts table) and Plants Sale will accept Cash and Credit Card payments.

• Classroom Tables in the Marketplace (in the red courtyard) will take Cash only. 

NEW! ONLINE SILENT AUCTION 

This year's Silent Auction bidding will be held online for the first time. There will be NO physical in-person bidding as in previous years but ALL items will be on display at SPRING FLING for you to view.

FOOD AND DRINKS

We will have 3 Food Trucks beside the Gym on East 18th Ave. They will accept Credit or Debit Cards and Cash. 

• Food Truck themes include: Grilled cheese sandwich options, Thai food options, and Rain or Shine Ice-cream. The trucks will sell sodas and a limited amount of bottled water. 

• The Sausage Stand (in the red courtyard) will accept Tickets only.

Trivia Night fundraiser

Charles Dickens PAC is hosting a trivia night fundraiser to support our inclusive playground initiative. This night is guaranteed to be a fun night out connecting with our school community and raising funds for a great cause!

Family Baseball Night Funraiser

Come watch the Vancouver Canadians minor league baseball team with families and students from the Charles Dickens community!  

This event is to raise funds for the Inclusive Playground and $5 from every ticket sold will be donated directly to our fundraiser. Tickets cost $22.

When: Thursday, June 13^th @ 7:05pm

• Tickets can be bought up to the day before the event, however the public can buy them too so buy early if you can.
• All payments are handled through the link above
• Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable

• Tickets are delivered via email only. Tickets cannot be printed at the Box Office.

Bring a SWEET or SAVOURY SNACK (finger food) to share! Parents must attend this fun night with their kids. Please, no drop-offs.

RBC and BC Children's Hospital Race for the Kids

On June 9th, 2024 BCCHF is hosting a family fun run Race for the Kids that helps to support the incredible work being done at BC Children's Hospital.

Whether they are for small injuries or even the unexpected bigger issues, all of our families are so grateful for everything they do at BCCH.

This will be the first year we will have a team for Charles Dickens families to gather and walk or run together.

Kids Swap Market Friday December 8th 2023

We are excited to announce that Dickens is hosting a Kids Swap Market on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the School gym. 

We would love for you to join us for a fun-filled day of swapping and shopping. You can buy, sell, or trade your kids' clothes, toys, books, games, or anything else that they have outgrown or no longer need.

Admission is only $1.00 per person (children are free). Tables are available for $15.00

Thank You, re: Fam Jam - Family Music Night

An enormous thank you to Mike and Char for hosting another fabulous Fam Jam evening on Thursday, March 8th!

Together with Mike Jackson and Char Hunter, we would like to thank the families and staff who attended the event for all their support, and thanks to the many parents & kids who shared their amazing musical talents with us as well! 

There were 150 guests in total - the largest family music night gathering we've yet had! It was wonderful to also have Dickens music teacher, Eric, contribute with a solo act, and to have him lead students in a sing and play-a-long too. 

We’d also like to extend our thanks to Vira Jackson for creating a magical atmosphere in the gym with the bunting and lighting, and to the students who helped collect the donations, and with the setting-up of chairs and tearing down too. 

Donations collected:
Two boxes filled with about 50 food items were given to the Grandview Woodland Food Connection. In addition, $385 was raised for the school’s music program.

We greatly appreciate your generous support, and look forward to seeing you again at our next fun-filled Fam Jam!

Yes, it's back! 

Our Scavenger Hunt was so successful last year, that we'll be extending it

over a full week this year so that even more families can join in the fun!

This year's Scavenger Hunt will run from Friday, April 15 to Sunday, April 24

and can be completed at any time during this period.
