Proposed 2022 BC School Food Guidelines

K-12 Consultation on Proposed 2022 BC School Food Guidelines

The Ministries of Health and Education are requesting BCCPAC member DPACs and PACs feedback on proposed changes to the 2013 Guidelines for Food and Beverage Sales in B.C. Schools.

The first set of Guidelines for Food and Beverage Sales in BC Schools were published by the Ministries of Education and Health in 2005. These were updated in 2008, 2011 and 2013. With the release of Canada’s food guide in 2019, the Ministry of Health has drafted proposed 2022 Guidelines that reflect current national and provincial nutrition recommendations. They also reflect the findings of the 2020 school administrator survey on implementation challenges with the 2013 Guidelines.

We are inviting you to provide feedback and your input in any of the following ways AFTER a full review of the Proposed 2022 Guidelines and discussion paper outlining the Ministry’s rationale for the proposed 2022 Guidelines:

  1. Register for the PAC/DPAC Webinar on Tuesday, April 5 to hear an overview of the proposed changes, ask questions and provide your feedback. Registration closes April 1.
  2. Complete the BC School Food Guidelines Feedback Survey online by April 30.
The Ministry of Health and BCCPAC thanks you in advance for your participation in this consultation process!

Hip-Hop with Jess Dance

Parents & Guardians weren't invited to attend performances due to ongoing pandemic restrictions but we have some wonderful news about this PAC-sponsored event from our principal, Julie Weatherall!

READY TO DANCE  -  Friday, March 4 2022

Today was the grand finale of our Jess Dance Residency with master hip-hopper, Kyle. Students have loved learning cool moves and dance routines over the past 2 weeks, and we loved watching how much they learned in such a short time at Friday afternoon’s performance.

We hope to be able to send families from each class their taped performance. A huge shout out to Dickens PAC for funding the program and to Kim F. for booking, organizing and scheduling the lessons and final event! For a live performance, ask your children to show you their moves at home!

Holiday Chocolate Fundraiser! #2

Due to the amazing success of our previous Holiday Chocolate Fundraiser, we've created a second Holiday Fundraiser—just in time for Easter!

This fun and tasty fundraiser will raise money to support the multitude of activities funded by the PAC at the Main and Annex schools.

There is a sliding scale of profitsthe more we sell, the more we get back! Our first Holiday Fundraiser had $7,000 in sales, which earned $2,100 for PAC-funded activities. This time, we're aiming to sell at least $8,000 to raise even more!

To make your order, simply go to
https://fundraising.purdys.com/1506178-93911

Begin by entering your email or sign in if you’ve ordered from our Purdys fundraiser before. Once you're ready to Shop Online, select the "Use Marketplace" button. You will then be able to view all the chocolate options for sale. Payment is easy and done by credit card.

Orders must be completed by Monday, March 28, 2022

Take Note: Monday, March 28 is the first day back from Spring Break—so get your order in NOW so that you don't forget!

Please check it out and feel free to buy treats for teachers, friends and family through this fundraising campaign. Also share the link with extended family & friends, who you know like chocolate and our schools. Thank you! :)
